How to choose the right headphones for your everyday
Magnussen TeamShare
Headphones are one of the few pieces of tech we wear for hours every day, so choosing the right pair matters. Here's a quick guide to finding the style that fits your routine.
1. Start with how you listen
Think about where you'll use them most. A long train commute, an open-plan office, the gym and the sofa all ask for different things. Pick your top two scenarios before you look at specs; it makes the choice much easier.
2. Over-ear, on-ear or in-ear?
- Over-ear headphones surround your ears with soft cushions. They offer the most immersive sound and are ideal for long listening sessions at home or while travelling.
- On-ear headphones rest on your ears. They're lighter and more compact, a good middle ground for everyday use.
- True wireless earphones disappear into a pocket-sized charging case. Perfect for commuting, workouts and calls on the go.
- Open-ear earphones leave your ear canal free so you can hear traffic and people around you, the safest choice for running and cycling outdoors.
3. Wireless or wired?
Bluetooth gives you freedom of movement and no cables to untangle. Wired headphones never need charging and offer a simple, reliable connection. You don't always have to choose: the Magnussen H6 works in both Bluetooth and wired mode, with a locking aux cable that keeps the connection secure.
4. Check the battery life
For daily use, look for at least 8 to 10 hours of playback. Our H1 and H8 deliver up to 10 hours of uninterrupted music on a single charge, enough for a full working day.
5. Don't underestimate comfort
Weight, clamping force and cushion material make a huge difference after the first hour. Lightweight designs and soft, breathable ear cushions are key if you plan to wear your headphones all day.
6. Buying for kids?
Children need durable, lightweight headphones that fit smaller heads. The Bluetooth Magnussen K1 (up to 8 hours of playback) and the wired W1 are designed with them in mind. Whatever you choose, keep the volume moderate and encourage regular breaks.
